The Ultrafast Quantum Optics Group at the University of Oxford is active on the application of ultrafast optics to study quantum phenomena in light and in matter, and at the interface between them.

Our goal is the realisation of a quantum network able to perform a number of different applications ranging from high-precision metrology to quantum computing. Integrated optics provides reliable technology for implementing the interfaces between the different components: single-photon sources, memories, processing units, and detectors. Within PICQUE, we are developing novel techniques for the active control of waveguided interferometers compatible with their operation at cryogenic temperature, at which high-efficiency photon-number resolving detectors work.
